Thinking about your spiritual wellness

Hello and how is everyone?

How have you made out with improving your physical and mental wellness?

If you missed my article from a few weeks ago, I shared some suggestions on how to improve these aspects of your wellness. Now, we are going to focus on your spiritual wellness. I believe this to be of the most importance. This is your connection to your higher self.  Some may call it God, Source, the Universe, Inner-being, etc. It matters not what you call it but rather going within yourself to seek answers. This means disconnecting from your mind or ego and reconnecting with your heart or intuition.

Spiritual wellness gives you the opportunity to go within and heal any hurts and pains that arise to the surface and can usually be felt through your emotions or within the physical body. If the thought of a certain experience feels bad, it is usually a sign that this thought of an experience is coming to the surface to be accepted and released.

This could mean there is an opportunity to forgive those who have hurt us too. Forgiveness will set you free from reliving past hurts, pains and traumas over and over again. I have found it useful to place a few drops of the essential oil called ylang ylang in my hands to inhale and then rub over the heart with an affirmation such as “I forgive and release (insert person’s name or event) from my being.”

This can be done several times until the thought of this person or event does not feel bad anymore. We do this to free ourselves from the burden of reliving it rather than justifying if the person or event deserves to be forgiven. We do it as an act of self-love for ourself and has nothing to do with the other. If tears come, let them flow, if anger comes up, let it come to the surface because it is better to accept it and let it go than to suppress or repress  (deny it). This is the work of true healing.

Another act of spiritual wellness is reconnecting with nature. Spend some time outside everyday in peace and you will quickly see how good it feels.

Lastly, spend some time each day in prayer and meditation. Prayer is talking to your higher connection and meditation is listening to your higher connection and both of are great value to your spiritual health.  The trick is to quiet the mind, breathe and trust in the process.  I wish you much love, healing and wellness.
