The Path to Pursuing Wellness

The path to pursuing wellness can sometimes feel like an overwhelming experience but if we break it down into three categories, we can begin to examine each, give ourselves time to implement new routines with them and then start with the next category once mastered.

This is not a quick fix, speed to the finish line sort of path but instead a small step forward each day that becomes a lifestyle. Over the next few weeks, I am going to share some examples of baby steps that may help you to find your outer and inner wellness through focus on your physical, mental and spiritual bodies.

This week we will start with our physical wellness, this is one we feel within the physical body and is the most talked and educated about within our society. We have all been taught to eat healthier, exercise daily and give ourselves self care and sleep, but what does that really mean and is there more we can do to obtain physical wellness? First, let’s examine how exactly you can incorporate healthier foods into your diet. When I was transitioning into a healthier lifestyle, I started to incorporate smoothies into my day which can replace a meal or provide a sustainable snack. There are so many recipes out there but a good base contains half a frozen banana, a handful of your favourite frozen fruit, a bunch of greens like spinach or kale and either milk or non dairy milk like almond, oat or rice milk. You can also add a scoop of high quality nutrients/protein power to amp up the nutritional impact.  I like to use doTERRA’s Slim & Sassy Trim Shake. Movement is the way of life and whether you like intense workouts or simply enjoy a casual walk or bike ride, the point is to gift your body with movement each day to lubricate your joints, get the blood flowing and energize your body.

Finally, let us take a look at some self care tips for your physical body that will also help your body rest and relax. One of the best ways is a simple Epsom salt bath with some lavender, eucalyptus or frankincense essential oils. It is a simple activity that soothes your sore muscles, relaxes your nervous system and creates a wonderful opportunity to take some time for yourself.

In two weeks we will continue with mental wellness. I encourage you to implement these simple, small steps into your daily routine for the next two weeks.
